The Gospel of Grace

Acts 20:24 "I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."

Yes the gospel is the gospel of grace. It isn't just to "avoid hell". It is "gain Christ and all the benefits of Christ." Paul says elsewhere that we reign in life by receiving grace. God's grace ignites spirits, it sets souls ablaze, it strengthens faltering hearts, it forgives the guilty, it lavishes infinite and astonishing blessings. Grace delights the heart, it's like a fountain, it's intoxicating. The Christian life is ALL of grace, ALL of Christ, not about us producing anything good in us, but one being utterly dependent and casting themselves on Him totally.

Galatians 6:11-18 says "In the climax of this epistle Paul asserts the completeness of the gospel of grace in the "finished work" of Jesus Christ".

We know the following about the true gospel, entrusted to Paul and all Christians: It is the plan of salvation centering around Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, in which a righteousness by faith is revealed. But that is not all. The real gospel includes a conditional security for the Christian, according to the real grace teacher. Notice again what he wrote about the gospel: By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. (1 Cor 15:2)

If you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. (Col 1:23)

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (Rom 1:16,17)
