We are being changed from the glory of the law to the glory of grace
2 Corinthians 3:18; But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
I.Walking in Grace:
1. 1. Keeps your focus on Jesus
* Not on yourself
* Not on your sin
* Not on your efforts
1. 2. Gives you confidence before God
Heb 10:19-24; Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
* No fear
* Boldness in God’s presence
* To obtain help
1. 3. Makes you gracious toward others
Ephesians 4:29-5:2; 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
II. Walk in Love
5 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
* Forgive as you have been forgiven
* Restore others “gently” (Galatians 6:1ff)
* Non judgmental Matt 7:1-2 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. "
1. 4. Breaks the hold of sin over your life
Romans 6:14; For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
* If you are living in sin, you have moved away from grace
* Law makes you conscious of sin and keeps you in its bondage (Rom 3:20; 1 Cor 15:56)
* You are eating from the wrong tree!
1. 5. Releases the influence of the Holy Spirit
* The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of grace
* Stop your striving and let the Holy Spirit take over
* Those who are led by the Spirit are not under the law (Gal 5:18)
1. 6. Releases you into your ministry
1 Corinthians 15:10; But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
* Grace leads you to serve God, labour more abundantly
* You become a New Covenant minister
* Gospel of grace, power and transformed life
1. 7. Shapes you into the image of Jesus
* You are drawn in the direction of the dominant vision of your life
Grace shapes your life - Trained by Saving Grace
Titus 2:11-12; For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age
* Grace empowers you to imitate Jesus
